Motorcyclist fighting for life after Thursday accident

MOTORCYCIST Clem Gomes, 21, of Mainstay/Whyaka on Essequibo Coast, is fighting for his life in the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) after suffering serious head injuries in an accident last Thursday.

Reports said the employee of Mainstay Holiday Resort was test driving his motorcycle after repairing it late Thursday afternoon when he lost control on the white sandy roadway and crashed.
It is reported that he was thrown off the machine several feet away and injured his head.
Toshoa of the Amerindian community, Mr. Joel Fredericks said Gomes was rushed to the Suddie Hospital in a unconscious state and air-dashed to the GPH where he has remained in an unconscious state after four days.
Fredericks said the weather is dry and the Mainstay road is very difficult for motorcyclists to ride on because of the loose white sand.
Police are investigating.
