Guinness Greatest of the Streets … Teams tightening competition every night

AS the Guinness Greatest of the Streets progress the teams have begun to tighten up on their game and have made earning a victory a rather tough task.

On Tuesday night another eight matches were contested at the Burnham Court where three teams recorded wins while there were five draws.
The night began with Leopold Street recording a 1-0 victory over Sophia with Omallo Williams the scorer in the 20th minute.
Globe Yard recorded a 2-0 win over Princes Street. Scoring for the eventual victors were Lionel Grimes (9th) and Anthony French (26th).
The other victory of the night went to East Front Road who defeated Berlin Massive 2-1. East Front Road were led by Damon Kelly who scored a brace in the second and 21st minutes while Teon Joseph scored for the opposition in the tenth minute.
D’Urban Street and Island Allstar played to a 2-2 draw as D’Urban Street led 2-0 at halftime after Dimone Porter and Chris Galloway scored. However, two quick goals from Sean Cox in the second half were enough to bring the games level before regulation time.
Kingston and Norton Street East drew 1-1 with Nigel Danny scoring for Kingston and Rasesh George for the opposition.
Three games ended in a stalemate where neither team scored; the first was California Square versus Bent Street, the second was Broad Street A/Charlestown versus Queen Street Tiger Bay and the other was Hope Street Tiger Bay versus Lodge Housing Scheme.
The competition continues tonight at the Albouystown Basketball Court from 18:00hrs when Sophia meet South Ruimveldt. It continues with Norton Street West versus Cross Street, Alexander Village against East La Penitence and West Front Road battling Festival City.
The other four matches to be contested on the night include West Back Road against Broad Street B, North Last Entrance versus Albouystown B, Back Circle versus Stevedore Housing Scheme and Laing Avenue against Albouystown A.
