Break and enter convict sentenced to six years

PREVIOUSLY convicted offender, Clement Humphrey, who pleaded guilty to two charges of break and enter and larceny, was sentenced to six years imprisonment by Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo, who told the convict that he is not learning from his penalties.

Forty-two-year-old Humphrey called ‘Delago’, of Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam, pleaded guilty to breaking into the home of Patsy Mc Clarken, at Martin Luther Scheme, also in New Amsterdam and stealing a quantity of kitchen utensils and a DVD player valued a total of $130,000.
In the other charge, Police Corporal Orin Joseph, prosecuting, said, on November 1, the convict went to the Sheron Forde’s beer garden and stole a quantity of alcoholic beverages valued $44,000.
Humphrey, pleading for leniency, said, earlier that evening, he had gone to the Tucber Park location and, after imbibing a few drinks, he fell asleep. However, on awakening, he realised that he was hungry and forcefully opened the door to the business as it was already closed, drank a half case of beers and took two cases away.
The prosecutor informed the court that the entire incident was recorded on a security camera and the booty was recovered in his possession.
The prisoner was sentenced to three years on each conviction and the sentences will run concurrently.
