SHAWN Peters (no address given) was yesterday sentenced to one year imprisonment by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry for simple larceny.

He pleaded guilty to having, on November 17, stolen one haversack containing jewellery and other articles valued a total $238,500, property of Sylvan Cornette.
The prisoner told the Court he took the bag but dropped it after he was chased by the virtual complainant, who got back all his belongings.
