Unprofessional behaviour by police ranks

I feel something ought to be done about those ranks that are placed to interact with members of the public, be it at the station or even those on patrol of whatever type. My main reason for writing is basically to complain about an ugly incident that occurred on October 25 about 19:07hrs at Lusignan on the East Coast of Demerara while returning to Georgetown from the upper East Coast in vehicle # GMM1395, I was stopped by three uniformed policemen one corporal and two constables.
I was told to switch off my engine and to turn my interior lights on, I complied; I then asked the ranks the reason for the search as well as their names they (the ranks) refused to give their names. However, they said that they were searching for guns and ammunition. I was confused and trust me, I was scared as hell since I was taught differently by senior Superindent Mr Stephen Mancell.

I then told them that I am a licensed firearm holder; I was told to hand over my weapon which I did but not before I had emptied my magazines I was subsequently asked to present my firearm licence. I did not find it on my first search so I asked the ranks for five minutes to conduct a proper search. I was told that my weapon is illegal and that I have five seconds to exit my vehicle, momentarily the corporal pulled open the driver’s side door and physically dragged me out while a male negro cocked his service weapon and pointed it to my face.

I was accused of carrying drugs in my vehicle and was subsequently escorted to the Vigilance Police Station where my vehicle was thoroughly searched and no illicit drugs of illegal firearms were found.
I made another search for my firearm licence which I found and I gave same to the ranks. At the station, I learnt the names of two of the policemen to be Corporal 18908 Ramdatt, the one that pulled me out of my vehicle and the other to be Constable 20715 Saul as the police that pointed the gun to my head.

I don’t want to relive this inhuman experience.  This occurrence is totally unacceptable since I am a law-abiding citizen and still afford the time to give back to community and country as a whole as a Rural Constable, I was embarrassed when the ranks saw my RC card and said that RCs are slaves and they are not recognised by the police force. This matter will not stop here, but it will travel the distance!
Given the commitments of both the Honourable Minister of Home Affairs, Mr. Clement Rohee and the Commissioner of Police Acting Mr. Leroy Brumell these disrespectful officers need to be dealt with seriously.

I was told by the said corporal that I will be charged for disorderly behaviour I was then told by C.O Fredericks to sign a recognisance and to return on Monday October 29, 2012.

Given the current situation in the country as it relates to some police attitudes and the unprofessional manner  in which some of the ranks conduct their duty it continues to tarnish the once good reputation of the once model force of this place we call home.
