Special Guest Speaker on the occasion will be President Donald Ramotar and, following his speech, he is to officially make the first donation. His gesture would be followed by donors from the Diplomatic Corps, the Private Sector and others.
Divisional Commander of the S. A., Major Emmerson Cumberbatch and Chairman of the S.A. Advisory Board, Mr. Edward Boyer are also to make remarks.
The programme will include singing of carols, ushering in the festive season, led by the S.A. Divisional Director of Women’s Ministries, Major Carolinda Cumberbatch and Captain Mirelle St. Lot, Divisional Youth Secretary.
There will be performances by the Youth Timbrel Brigade and a skit by the clients of the Drug Rehabilitation Programme.
In this season of peace, goodwill and joy, the S.A. is urging persons to give generously to the kettles in the streets, beginning Friday morning.
Other ways
Other ways in which persons, including the Private Sector can donate, include the ‘Mail Appeal’ for which persons can use account numbers provided in Appeal Letters by the S.A. to make deposits in commercial banks.
People donating can also go to the Citadel Headquarters, South Road and Alexander Streets, also in Georgetown.
The S.A. utilises the funds raised to conduct its year-long humanitarian programmes aimed at responding to the needs of senior citizens and the less fortunate, such as drug rehabilitation, feeding of needy children and senior citizens, League of Mercy; Women’s Home League and Counselling.
The next big event on the S.A’s calendar is the ‘Distribution of Hampers’ slated for December 17 at Citadel Headquarters, from 10:00 hrs.
The beneficiaries are strictly the needy, who are encouraged to get registered and collect their tickets in advance of the date of distribution. In the interest of ensuring a smooth and orderly disbursement, only persons with tickets will be issued with hampers.
