No arrest yet for Garden of Eden cache

DEPUTY Commissioner of Police (Law Enforcement) Seelall Persaud said, Monday, that, so far, no one was arrested in relation with the arms and ammunition cache found at Garden of Eden, East Bank Demerara, on Sunday. A gun and 1,407 rounds of various calibre were taken into police possession after an impromptu search unearthed them.
But the Crime Chief said it does not seem that this was connected with the previous find at Lethem, Rupununi.
In the latest incident, police reported that, about 08:30 hrs on November 4, ranks went to First Dam, Garden of Eden, where a .38 ‘Taurus’ special revolver, 1,407 rounds of different calibre, two bulletproof vests, two pairs of black leather boots, three face masks and a quantity of clothing in two black suitcases and a travelling bag were on a dam.
The bullets included .38, 7.62×39, .45, .44, .40, 9mm, .25 and .380, as well as 12-gauge cartridges.
Several weeks ago, police took custody of three M-70 and four M-16 assault rifles, a grenade and radio communication equipment from a dwelling house at Tabatinga, Lethem and two persons, including a woman, were held for questioning.
A man has since been charged with illegal possession of them and has been remanded to prison.
