THE United States Embassy in Georgetown for the third time this year, conducted a blood drive on Thursday during which 26 pints were collected from donors.
The Embassy, in partnership with the Ministry of Health, responded to calls from the Guyana National Blood Bank for donors to meet a critical shortage.
Volunteers from the diplomatic mission, staff of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and Davis Memorial Hospital donated.
The National Blood Bank relies on donations from public-spirited persons to assist in situations where transfusions may be the only option to save a life.
