THE CLERICAL and Commercial Workers Union (CCWU) Clerico Club located on Quamina Street will be buzzing with activity from today, when the Guyana Darts Association (GDA) hosts its national championship which gets under way at 16:00hrs.
The action will commence with the Guyana National Newspapers Limited’s sponsored mixed doubles, followed by the mixed triple which is being sponsored by Apex Insurance.
This championship is a history-making one for the GDA, since all the categories have attracted individual sponsors and the final event for the day, which will see all matches being contested in a best-of-three games (501), is the men’s doubles competition that is being sponsored by Queensway.
The remaining three events of the championships will be played tomorrow at the same venue, commencing at 13:00hrs.
Those events are the team events, sponsored by the New Guyana Pharmaceutical Corporation (NGPC), the women’s singles, sponsored by Dr Terrence Joseph and the men’s singles sponsored by John Fernandes Ltd.
Keen contests are expected in all the events with cash incentives being included for outstanding individual performances, while the presentation of trophies/prizes won will be distributed to the successful players by the respective sponsors or their representatives, immediately after tomorrow’s action.
