THE Guyana Football Federation (GFF) 2012/2013 Super League kicks off tomorrow across the country, with four intriguing matches.
At the Blairmont Community Centre ground, Rosignol United of Berbice will come up against Linden’s Milerock at 15:30hrs. It is anticipated to be a very competitive match since the two teams are considered the best in their respective locations. Milerock is coached by National Under-20 coach Bryan ‘Jo Boy’ Joseph while Rosignol United is coached by Englishman Keith O’Jeer who is also an assistant National Coach. Both teams approach their game in a technical way hence a tactical game is expected.
Over at Beterverwagting ground at 15:30hrs, newcomers BV/Triumph United of East Demerara will engage Linden’s Amelia’s Ward in a battle of the underdogs. Amelia’s Ward placed fourth in the previous Super League Tournament which was their first year.
The boys from the mining town will be looking to continue in that same vein, while BV/Triumph, who will be playing at home will hope to use the home court to their advantage.
The Uitvlugt ground comes alive at the same time when Den Amstel play Buxton United of East Demerara in another interesting match-up.
The Buxtonians under the guidance of GFF Technical Development Officer Lyndon France and coached by Herbert McPherson are not expected to be intimidated by the boys from the West Side although the Den Amstel boys finished higher in the last tournament.
Finally, at the Georgetown Football Club ground BK International Western Tigers will host Uitvlugt Warriors of West Demerara at 19:00hrs. However, there will be a bonus game and that starts at 17:00hrs when a Barbados Masters Team oppose Hearts of Oak of Berbice in a Goodwill match.
The feature game will see BK Western Tigers, just off winning the Karibee Rice KO Tournament, tackle the once mighty Uitvlugt Warriors who produced a number of former national players. This will be their first year in the Super League.
The Tigers, runners-up in the previous Super League disclosed this year they will be going up a notch in the rankings, so come tomorrow at the final whistle they will emerge winners.
The Alpha United/Pele match which was set for tomorrow has been shifted to Wednesday, October 31.
