EZjet launches ‘Pass’ for travel in November

PASSENGERS travelling between Toronto, Trinidad and Guyana will be able to so do by just purchasing from EZJet one ticket, known as “The Pass”, which will facilitate travel between any of those three destinations for consideration of one flat fee during the entire month of November 2012. EZJet’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Rosalinda Rasul announced this exciting offer on Tuesday, calling it part of activities to mark the airline’s one year anniversary, expected to be celebrated in early November.

Ms. Rasul said the airline has been engaging in creative business since it started operating in Guyana, and is not concerned merely with selling tickets to flyers, but also tries to make utilisation of its services optimally exciting.

She disclosed that “The Pass” would be available in Trinidad and Tobago, Toronto and Guyana from tomorrow, and can be purchased from any EZjet agent in any of those countries.

In essence, “The Pass” enables a flyer to commute throughout the month of November for the price of one travel.

“The Pass” would be sold in three denominations: US$400, US$600, and US$800. The US$400 pass allows travel to Trinidad on any of the days the airline goes to that destination for the entire month of November. The US$600 pass permits travel between Guyana and New York Monday through Friday with no additional cost on the ticket, but travel is not permitted on weekends. With the US$800 pass, passengers can travel all week between Toronto and Guyana.

What sweetens the offer, according to Ms Rasul, is that persons get to travel from one country to another, and need only book a flight to the third country once the seat is available. The offer is reputedly ideal for the business community, since its’ members are often required to travel between several destinations within days, and “The Pass” partially accommodates those travels.

But despite the euphoria, certain conditions apply. Although persons are not required to pay additional monies for travel once “The Pass” has been secured, they would be required to pay for extra baggage and airport taxes.

The airline has said that despite the number of times a holder of “The Pass” flies during November 2012, that person is allowed the same baggage allowance. However, an intended flyer cannot just show up at the airport and be accommodated if he/she had not first booked his/her flight in advance, as obtains with normal flights, so that the airline would be able to know in advance of each flight how many seats are taken.
Should a person miss his/her flight, or change his/her flight date after it would have been booked, Ms Rasul said, normal penalties would apply.

EZjet made it clear that there is no catch or gimmick to the promotion, since the economics have been worked out; and there will be no bating and switching where the offer is concerned.

The airline hopes to launch an even more exciting promotion for the Christmas season.
Within the past eleven months of EZjet’s operation in and out of Guyana, Ms Rasul disclosed, the airline has had to contend with numerous hurdles in the form of criticisms and skepticisms, including proving to many persons that the airline was going to last beyond the three-month ultimatum it had been given by some persons.

She told the media that the airline was able to preserve against those odds, and continues to play in an industry where the playing field is not level. She added that while EZJet is offering a tremendous service to the Guyanese community locally and abroad, there continues to be stiff competition in which competitors seem to be having the edge; but EZJet has been fighting the battle and staying the course over the months, having the benefit of the Guyanese people at heart.

She reminded that EZJet has changed the landscape of the local aviation sector, and its presence has declared a price war, especially during the recent July/August period. She said EZJet has increased its share of the local travel market, and competitors themselves have been able to recognize this, since they have had to reduce their fares to compete with the already attractive EZJet fares.
