I AM an educated young Guyanese and supporter of the opposition, more specifically APNU.  I think more than ever I deserve an answer from my political leaders, as do all of us who have followed the PNCR. While I do not agree with the contention of APNU that Lindeners should be treated in a special manner unlike other Guyanese, I became sympathetic to the cause after the fatal shooting of three young men.

Again I did not agree with the destruction of both public and private properties which followed but I supported the APNU in their moves to get justice and hold the Guyana Police Force, and by extension the PPP Government, accountable.
Recent days of testimony before the Commission of Inquiry by APNU leaders however has left me in a state of soul-searching, and I am now wondering if we have indeed been betrayed by our leaders.
However, what I believe will or will not be fully confirmed at the end of this CoI. My concern currently is the image of the opposition, which has obviously taken a battering. How can we, as an opposition movement, be taken seriously by the public anymore when our leaders lie in a brazen manner, fully knowing that not only the Commissioners, but even the average Guyanese knows that they are lying? As a Christian, it makes me quiver with anger to hear my Member of Parliament, Ms. Vanessa Kissoon, speak about God after she would have sworn on the Holy Bible to tell the truth, only for her to be confronted for attempting to mislead the Commissioners and all Guyanese who are following this inquiry; and even more so, utter barefaced lies.
This MP representing us in the highest decision-making body in the land is aware that there is video evidence of what occurred in Linden, and this has been handed over to the commission, and yet she stands up and testifies that she never saw anyone attempting to block the Wismar Bridge, and in a most embarrassing moment, she is forced to eat her words after being shown the video. If this was not enough, the young Regional Chairman, Mr. Sharma Solomon, whom I had so much hope for, has now totally discredited himself by following in Kissoon’s footsteps, and was caught lying to the Commission.
Based on these revelations, I challenge my leaders in APNU to show where they stand on professionalism and anti-corruption, as lying and misleading your support base and the nation is a form of corruption. It is now up to APNU to demonstrate how serious they are by removing the MP and the Chairman from their positions, as they have absolutely no credibility.
There is also another critical aspect which I wish for your media house to follow up, and that is if any criminal charges could be laid against these individuals, who have now in essence admitted that they broke the laws of our country. They have admitted before the CoI that they were aware that blocking the Wismar Bridge was illegal, but yet they joined in blocking the bridge; and even more, encouraged more persons to come out and support them in this illegality.
Time is running out for APNU, as I have always secretly suspected our leaders of misleading us on critical issues to get us to do their bidding. This case in Linden is a classic example, and it is time they are held accountable for their actions.
