THE Blairmont Community Centre Ground comes alive tomorrow when the other semi-final of the Karibee Rice Knockout Football Tournament is played to see whether Rosignol United or Monedderlust will advance to the final on Sunday at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground.
These two teams where scheduled to clash over the weekend but the game was abandoned by the referees due to bad light. It is now scheduled for 15:30hrs at the same venue.
The winner of this semi-final showdown will meet BK International Western Tigers in the final at 20:00hrs, while the loser of the Rosignol/Monedderlust match will face Pele in the third place showdown at 18:00hrs.
On Sunday at the GFC ground Western Tigers needled Pele to move into the final. These two young teams contested an energetic match but it was Ronsford Coleridge’s 65th minute strike which shifted the balance of the game in favour of Western Tigers that eventually led to a victory.
In the game tomorrow, Rosignol United have Keith Ojeer, along with guest player Delwyn ‘Jack’ Fraser, National Under-20 striker Olvis Mitchell, National Under-20 defender Travis Henry and National U-20 midfielder Garson Baker, who are expected to play major roles if they want to advance.
On the other side of the field, Monedderlust have the father-son combination of Kevin Layne (Sr) who plays central midfield and his son ‘Boonkey’ Layne who is also a midfielder.
They are captained by central defender Orwin Johnson and will depend on former National Under-16 striker King Archer, who competed with Camptown and Conquerors sometime in the past, to give them an edge against the opposition.
