Waterchris prides itself on providing excellent airline catering for 35 years

REACTING to press reports, calls from numerous concerned citizens and those in authority, the management of Waterchris Ltd. would like to make the following clear as regards the recent drug bust on September 3, 2012 at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport.

Waterchris Ltd.  is contracted to provide catering for all Delta Airlines flights out of Guyana.
Security services for catering inspections and escorting of catering to the airport are provided by a Company contracted by Delta Airlines.

Firstly, no drugs were found in the catering for Delta on September 3, 2012.

The employee of the security company contracted by Delta Airlines, who escorted the catering, attempted to place a Delta recycle bag on the forklift of the handling company which takes the catering to the aircraft.

He was  challenged by CJIA security personnel, and the bag was found to allegedly contain cocaine. It is alleged that he attempted to offer the CJIA security US$200 and G$10,000. This was refused by the security personnel.

It is also alleged that he then attempted to assault the security personnel and escape.

He was apprehended with the bag which allegedly contained cocaine

The Standard Operating Procedure determined that he was not authorised to be in this location.

We would like to make it abundantly clear that at this time or no time in the 35 years of providing airline catering any drugs or prohibited items have been in our catering provision.

We urge you to contact CANU, CID and/or CJIA to substantiate these facts as outlined above.
