DEMERARA Bank Limited (DBL), New Building Society (NBS), Republic Bank (Guyana ) Limited and Universal DVD Club and Universal Solutions, along with several other corporate companies, have joined hands with the Corporate Business in Sports Inter-Agency 10/10 softball tournament.
This Saturday’s activity, being billed as the largest sports tournament among the business community in Berbice, will see several businesses and agencies do battle in the softball matches as well as a dominoes tournament, along with other novelty events.
Apart from the abovenamed businesses, other sponsorships have poured in from Digicel, Anamayah Law Firm, Ansa McAl Trading, Sunshine Snackette and Peter Lewis Construction Company.
Chief Executive Officer of Universal DVD Club and Universal Solutions, Vicram Seubarran, confirmed his company’s contribution to the tournament when asked by president of the Berbice Chamber of Commerce (BCC) Imran Saccoor.
Without any hesitation, Seubarran agreed to undertake the sponsorship for the trophy and medals which will be distributed at the end of the exhibition contest between Universal DVD Club Berbice Titans and Hits and Jams Superstars.
Seubarran will also be offsetting the expenses for cheerleaders as well as popular sports sidekick entertainment provider Granny Ivelaw.
Meanwhile, the tournament has received the blessings of Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport Dr Frank Anthony who is expected to declare the tournament open or deliver remarks at the mid-afternoon ceremony.
The tournament is played under the theme ‘Promoting and Strengthening Unity amongst Businesses’ and the MCYS will be represented by a team registered as the Regional Chairman XI.
Entertainment will be provided by Crown Vibes Musical Sounds, with live comedy entertainment being provided by Granny Ivelaw and her cheer-leader girls and tassa drumming.
Patrons will be in for a big treat having the opportunity to ride away with a Rebel motorcycle, Smart phones and other gadgets with the purchase of tickets costing only $300 in advance and $400 at the gate.
Children will be admitted free of charge and under lights in the night the atmosphere is expected to be transformed with the much anticipated t20 exhibition that is being used to provide added entertainment before the softball finals.
Talks are also being engaged to have the finals of the 10/10 softball tournament, broadcast live on NCN Radio for which further updates will be provided on subsequent releases.
