CRIME Chief Seelall Persaud reported, yesterday, that the file compiled from investigations into the fatal shooting of Dameon Belgrave, last Friday night outside White Castle Fish Shop, is with the Chairman of the Police Complaints Authority (PCA), Justice Cecil Kennard. He said the compilation had been with Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Shalimar Ali-Hack, who advised, on Thursday, that further inquiries be carried out.
The Deputy Commissioner (Law Enforcement) said the three policemen implicated in the killing of Belgrave the night before his 22nd birthday, are still under close arrest since an extension of time for their detention was granted by the DPP.
A post mortem revealed that Belgrave, who was shot and killed while police were pursuing suspicious occupants in a motorcar at Hadfield and John Streets, Werk-en-Rust, in Georgetown, died from shock and haemorrhage.
Belgrave, of Middle Street, Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara, had been standing on the roadway in the vicinity of the White Castle Fish Shop when he suffered the bullet wound to his left side and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH).
