ANOTHER member of the Kissoon family has been admitted to practice law at the local Bar. Mr. Liksham Nitya Sharna Kissoon is the son of attorney-at-law Mr. Bharat Kissoon and Mrs. Damayanti Kissoon, a retired senior mistress of Queen’s College (QC).
The petition for the admission of the new lawyer was presented by Senior Counsel Ralph Ramkarran to Justice William Ramlall.
The latest Kissoon legal practitioner is the nephew of retired Justice of Appeal Nandram Kissoon, Jailall Kissoon, Latchman Kissoon and Ascelia Kissoon, among 17 lawyers who practice their profession in various jurisdictions.
Nitya, as he is better known, attended St. Margaret’s Primary School and successfully completed his Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) at QC.
He worked for five years at the Deeds Registry in the Conveyancing and Notarial Departments.
In 1995, he joined the law firm of Cameron and Shepherd and was employed there as a conveyancing clerk up to the time he left, in 2010, to attend Hugh Wooding Law School in Trinidad.
Senior Counsel Ramkarran, of Cameron and Shepherd, said whilst at the law firm, Nitya thought it fit to pursue the career in keeping with the family tradition.
