Vote of confidence in Caribbean sports administrators

KINGSTON, Jamaica (CMC) – Newly appointed Director of Competitions at CONCACAF, Jamaican Horace Reid, says his appointment to the position is a vote of confidence in Caribbean sports administrators.

Reid is quitting his post as General Secretary of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) to take up his new job from November 1.
“There are some very good administrators across the region, including the Caribbean, and I’m therefore privileged to be accorded this opportunity,” Reid told the Jamaica Observer newspaper.
“Jamaica is also blessed in this regard in a lot of our sports, including football, track & field, netball and cricket.”
The long-serving administrator who demits office on October 31 is expected to be based at CONCACAF’s New York headquarters.
He will oversee a department primarily responsible for the execution of CONCACAF competitions including the Champions League and the flagship Gold Cup Tournament.
“It was a most difficult decision to leave the JFF and Jamaica,” said Reid who also served as Chairman of CONCACAF Administration Committee for ten years.
“But thanks to the tremendous understanding and support received from the president and other members of the board, I was able to take advantage of the opportunity.”
The new General Secretary of the JFF is expected to be long-standing Board member and President of the Portland FA, Raymond Grant.
