BOSAI installs first of two US$8M dust collectors

BOSAI Minerals Group (Guyana) on Friday installed the first of the two US$8M dust collectors at Linden.
This has been a major accomplishment as it was long promised by a number of  previous management companies without success and BOSAI has now made it into a reality.

altPrime Minister, Samuel Hinds was among a number of dignitaries who were at the official commissioning ceremony and was joined by Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment,  Robert Persaud, Chinese Ambassador to Guyana Mr. Yu Wenzhe, Regional Chairman Sharma Solomon, Interim Management Committee Chairman of Linden Town Council,  Orrin Gordon, Basil Williams of A People’s Partnership for National Unity (APNU), Head of the Privatisation Unit, Winston Brassington and Chief Executive Officer of the Linmine Secretariat, Horace James and members of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
General Manager of BOSAI Group Guyana Inc, Mr. George Zhoa told the gathering at the Watooka House where a reception was held after visiting the bauxite plant that: “We are glad to see that the first dust collector at Kiln 14 has been installed and put into operation,” according to him, the operation is working efficiently as he noted “It took us about three years and we spent over US$8M to finish this project,” acknowledging the support which was given by the community and Government of Guyana along the way.alt
Mr. Hinds said that he was looking forward to the completion of the unit on Kiln 13 as he congratulated the Linden bauxite operations majority owners BOSAI Minerals Inc, in which the Guyana government has a minority share of 30 per cent, for delivering on a promise they made to the people of Linden and Region 10, (Upper Demerara/Upper Berbice) in looking at the need for relief from the dust nuisance which has plagued the community for years.
The Chinese Ambassador said as he entered the town he was not sure about what was happening in terms of the operations of the bauxite industry but remarked he was very pleased to attend this official ceremony for the dust collector as “I saw two kilns and one was billowing smoke and I wondered whether they were operating one kiln or both. Actually I was told that both kilns are working so we can see a contrast, this is a very good accomplishment.”
He opined that the people of Linden have been suffering from dust for many years and now we are one step closer to the goal to make sure that the people of Linden enjoy cleaner air. The Ambassador added that “it is the policy of the Chinese government to encourage and support Chinese companies, especially the credible companies, the well known companies and in doing so we also ask them to abide by the rules or regulations” as he commended BOSAI for being a good corporate company abiding by the rules.
The Kiln 13 Dust Collection system is expected to be completed before the end of the year.
