2012 Swimming Summer Programme launched

THE 2012 Swimming Summer Programme was officially launched yesterday on the deck of the Colgrain Swimming Pool in the presence on over 40 participants that will be involved in the programme for the next six weeks. The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport has collaborated with the Guyana Amateur Swimming Association (GASA) to make the event possible. Numerous coaches are tasked with the job of teaching the basics to both children and adults
Making the feature address was Director of Sport Neil Kumar who stated that he fully endorsed the programme which in turn would be progressive for the sport and also make for a healthier population.
He added that he hopes after the catalyst programme wraps up that the participants would take it upon themselves to make advancement in their new skills.
Meanwhile, Pool Administrator Abraham Watson also made fitting comments that would encourage the gathering to take their lessons seriously while still having fun when learning.
The programme takes place on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for six weeks with classes from 09:00hrs to 10:00hrs and 10:00hrs to 11:00hrs.
