PRESIDENT Donald Ramotar and Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment, Robert Persaud, along with representatives of the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC)and the Guyana Gold and Diamond Miners Association( GGDMA)  will visit Puruni Landing and Issano 14 Miles today.
The visit forms part of the activities planned for Mining Week 2012. It will allow government and stakeholders within the sector to interact following calls for heightened collaboration to increase awareness of the role of the mining sector in the economy.
The government has repeatedly expressed its commitment to miners and stakeholders of the sector along with their representative bodies to confront global and external challenges facing the sector.
Mining Week is being celebrated under the theme “Investment and Technological Growth for Sustainability in the Mining Sector.”
