THE Mediation Institute of Guyana Inc held its third Annual General Meeting at the Red Cross Building in Kingston, Georgetown recently, and the following persons were elected for the new fiscal year 2012/2013: Ms. Jamela A. Ali (attorney-at-law) was re-elected President,
Ms. Pamela Nauth was re-elected First Vice President,
Ms. Hazel Halley-Burnett is Second Vice President,
Mr. Orrin Boston is Secretary,
Mr. Teni Housty is Treasurer,
Mr. Cyril Walker is a Director.
Mr. Scheherazade Khan is a Director.
Ms. Jamela Ali was trained with the first batch of Guyanese mediators in 2003. She is a certified mediator, a mediation trainer, and a faculty member who holds a Masters degree in Legislative Drafting. She is currently an attorney–at- law.
The mission of the MIG is to provide national leadership in the development and promotion of dispute resolution services in Guyana, and its vision is to be the pre-eminent organization for professionals who provide mediation services to individuals and organizations that use those services, President Jamela Ali disclosed.
