LYING in the heart of Georgetown city, approximately 40 miles from the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), this newly-built facility, the latest undertaking of local businessman Paul Giddings, was launched last Friday in a ceremony held on its Lot 3, Charles and Evans Streets premises in Charlestown. That ceremony culminated a project started back in 1997.
Describing the move as the end of a long journey, Giddings disclosed that establishing the Princess Raven Hotel was the first move he ever took in stages.
Named for his youngest daughter, six-year-old Princess Raven Giddings, the project was carried out in its first stage as Raven Cuisine, then went on to have available five rooms for rental. In its third and current phase, six more rooms have been added, along with a hospitality centre and a business centre.
Giddings is currently working on creating a roof garden with an exclusive bar and fitness centre for guests, which are expected to be completed by the end of this year.
The project initially began in 1997 as an entirely different sort of project, since Giddings then had felt there was need for professional dry cleaning; but he found that the “Jateah Dry Cleaning” project which he had had in mind would have been an enormous task, and he changed to the smaller project.
As disclosed to attendees at the ceremony, establishing the hotel was in response to the growing tourism industry in Guyana. The hotel is easily accessible to churches, restaurants, cinemas, banks, night clubs, and whosoever will conduct themselves responsible. The hotel provides transportation, and a driver can be provided to pick up guests on arrival at the CJIA.
All rooms are self-contained, and are equipped with high-speed wireless Internet; a safety deposit box; a well-stocked mini–bar; an AC unit; a flat screen television (with local and cable channels); a digital body scale; hot and cold shower stalls; telephone; fire detectors, and more.
All guests have 24-hour access to the business centre, which provides comforts such as hot beverages, ice, comfy furniture, and a relaxing atmosphere.
