THE Swarswati Vidya Niketan (SVN) private secondary school on the West Coast of Demerara continues to do well as two of its students managed to place in the top ten for this year’s Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) Examinations. Coming in fourth with 13 Grade Ones, Bibi Ameena Nazaralie said although she didn’t expect to do so well, she always aimed at getting only grade ones. She heard about her results yesterday from a friend, and she is still speechless.
Nazaralie explained that she had a lot of sleepless nights studying for the CSEC exams and she is satisfied with her results. Her advice to other students is to define a goal for themselves and then work hard towards that goal.
The 16 year old plans to pursue studies in Environmental Science at the University of Guyana. This publication caught up with her at the Uitvlugt Sugar Estate, where she is currently on a work study programme.
With 12 Grade Ones and one Grade Two, Vishwati Oudhram, also from Saraswati Vidya Niketan, gained the eight spot in the country.
Oudhram explained that her results came as no surprise since she was performing well throughout school and was very confident. She said she is overjoyed since she worked very hard to achieve this.
She expressed gratitude to her parents and teachers for their guidance and support. Her mother, who was present at the time she was being interviewed, was on the verge of tears, saying both she and her husband were very proud.
Oudhram would like to caution younger students that they need to work hard and do well because their future depends on it. She explained that while she was preparing for exams, she spent long hours studying and hardly got any spare time for herself.
The 17 year old has her sights set on a career in auditing and plans to pursue studies in accounting through the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
Bibi Ameena Nazaralie ties with Deowattie Narine and Kaleshwar Singh, both of The Bishops’ High School and Meikel Mahabir of West Demerara Secondary for the fourth spot in the country. Vishwati Oudhram shares the eighth position with Safeya Baksh of Queen’s College.
SVN continues to do well
