Guyana needs cooperation not confrontation

IT is totally unacceptable to see any delays in forming the commissions to investigate and address the Linden issues agreed on. The President must advise the parties involved that although he wants an agreement with all parties involved, he cannot wait indefinitely before taking the actions that are needed to address the current situation facing Linden and Guyana.
The President must insist that any questions on terms of references or members on these committees should be resolved within fifteen days. That he is ready to make the appointments necessary and to accept a chairperson from CARICOM or any qualified and independent individuals from outside or inside Guyana. Otherwise, he will attempt to take the steps needed to enact the agreements reached so far with the help of those in Linden and other stakeholders seeking an early settlement of these issues. Guyana needs cooperation not confrontation.

Political posturing and any attempts to delay solutions or to enlarge the demands for political advantage cannot be accepted. Neither, can Guyana continue to be held hostage to any group or region.
Each day that an agreement is not reached costs not only Linden but the nation dearly. Linden stands to lose both existing and future jobs and development. The price already paid in blood is considerably more than the proposed electricity increase and could continue to grow. All Lindeners need to become better informed and involved to ensure those advising them are taking the best steps towards a swift and fair resolution to the existing impasse. Dissenting voices must be heard and not stifled.
