Future voters will remember Linden 2012

THE protests by Lindeners against the hike in the electricity tariff had escalated when on day one it moved from a peaceful one to burning, looting and alleged attacks against the security forces who responded. Opposition politicians then rushed to take to the platform for politicking. Following the mayhem, government put the tariff on hold and continues to lead the way for the situation to be remedied.
Yet APNU allowed the Regional Chairman to continue haranguing and provoking a small pocket of Lindeners to display thuggish behaviour to the rest of the region.
The AFC are also joining with APNU and directing a small pocket of persons in Linden to hold the rest of the region to ransom and to destroy the livelihoods of workers in Region 10. They have very, very effectively destroyed the economy of the region, as well as chased current and prospective investors out.
APNU’s Regional Chairman must take blame for this and Mr. Granger, for encouraging it.
APNU’s leaders are now answerable for whatever events their conduct have produced – the surest, safest way forward would be for them to take the straightest path.
There will be no unity in our nation if this is not done.
Instead of separation, there must be togetherness, respect and honesty. This is not being done by the opposition majority.
This is not the time for the opposition to feel their power and misuse it. The way forward must be charted by negotiations, and willingness to compromise.
