THE Motielall Family of Crabwood Creek, Corentyne, Berbice has successfully established in that community a state-of-the-art nursing home for the elderly, with the aid of various religious groups in Suriname. This facility was named the Radha’s Home at its grand opening ceremony last Sunday.
Present at this event were family members and close friends of the Motielall family, along with six persons who will be the first to take up residence at this facility.
Radha’s Home comprises 45 very comfortable, state-of-the-art rooms in which persons over the age of 65 years will be allowed to stay.
There are 15 fully qualified nurses on staff, along with seven porters, who will be working in this fine institution for long-term residents.
Occupants of the home will also be fully taken care of in terms of their physical and mental wellbeing.
The monthly fees and allowances (not stated) were deemed very affordable for the family of the loved ones who will be staying at Radha’s.
The home is named after Radha, the late daughter of Mr. Ganpat Motielall. In an invited comment, he stated that Radha’s love for the elderly and children is what inspired him to take this step.
In order to fulfil his daughter’s wishes, he decided to do something worthwhile for the people who had inspired her, the people whom she loved the most.
He said the building was just a symbol of his love for his daughter; and even though she is not with him today, he is still bound by the commitment he made to her when she was alive — to make the world a better place.
He said his next aim is to build an orphanage for the children of this land, who once made his daughter’s life joyful.
At the opening ceremony, guests were treated to a tour of the building and its surroundings, inclusive of one of the biggest and neatest lawns, chess room, kitchen and a tennis court.
