A mother of five is appealing to members of the public to assist her in locating her 10-year-old son who has been missing since July 22 last. He is Shakeel Flatts, of Lot 123 Section ‘C’ Sophia, Greater Georgetown.
The woman, Euclyn Burnette, 31, told the Guyana Chronicle that she and her son went to a Kingdom Hall church service at Stone Avenue, Campbellville, and during the meeting, he managed to slip away undetected.
Burnette added that she only realised her son was missing when the meeting was over, and she began a frantic search for him, but, up to this date, she has not located the child.
She explained that her son went away from home a few times previously, but at nightfall, he would go by his aunt, who also lives in Sophia, before returning home.
However, on this occasion, she is clueless about his whereabouts.
The single parent mother added that she has since made a report to the police, and ranks have even accompanied her to search for the boy, but that search also came up empty handed.
The pupil of Sophia Primary School is a habitual delinquent, who roams the streets while his mother is away at work, since she is the sole bread winner of the family.
Flatts was last seen clad in a blue and white jersey with long black jeans and a pair of puma slippers. He is a dark skinned, thin-boned child who would be celebrating his 11th birthday on August 11.
Persons who may have information on this child’s whereabouts are kindly asked to call his mother on cell # 661-4425, or contact the nearest police station.
