August 1 celebrations a great success

ANOTHER Emancipation Day observance has been held, and it was heartening to see so many thousands of African Guyanese, adorned in their colourful  traditional wear, thronged especially the National Park, where the national  festivities  are annually  celebrated in the form of  music, dance  and  other allied cultural displays,  in addition to booths that showcase the wide array of well-known  African cuisine, and pictorial  extravaganza. This national occasion, as all others, give credence to the fact of a nation that is truly democratic, where all the races are free to celebrate their cultural  occasions in a truly national  spirit .
And in keeping with a policy of Government’s contribution towards cultural events, President Ramotar distributed this assistance to the many cultural groups that would have participated in this year’s  emancipation  festivities. This intervention has   definitely made the annual  August I  celebrations the great success that it has become. Also, his subsequent presence at the National Park was greatly appreciated by the thousands with whom he interacted.
Such is the hallmark of the great working class leader, that President Donald Ramotar is.
