THE ROGER Harper-led Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) has disassociated itself from recently held Inter-Sub Associations and Inter-County tournaments, from which the Demerara and later Guyana Under-19 national teams were selected. Below is a full excerpt of the GCA’s disclaimer:
“The executives of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) would like to make it known that the Association was not involved in the recent Under-19 Inter-Sub Association or Inter-County cricket competitions.
The Georgetown Cricket Association also wants to make it clear that it did not authorise anyone, whether in the capacity of coach or selector, to act on the Association’s behalf.
It was noted that officers and agents of the injunctive Guyana Cricket Board were involved in the organisation of the matches in the recently held Inter-Sub Association and Inter County Under-19 cricket competitions.
A number of players, parents and club representatives expressed their disappointment and frustration at the players that were selected to represent Guyana in the WICB Regional Under-19 cricket tournament scheduled to be held in Barbados.
They felt that the squad was not a reflection of the performances of the players in the abovementioned matches and throughout the season.
Once again the Executives of the Georgetown Cricket Association would like to reiterate that the coaches and/or officials involved in this process were not authorised to represent or act on behalf of the Georgetown Cricket Association.”
