DEVINDRA Lallchandra, of Lot 31 New Road, Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara, has been charged with assaulting Taleshwattie Dhanraj, a fellow employee of Lens Hardware Store, on Sheriff Street,Campbellville, Georgetown. He appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, and it was alleged that he committed the offence in the business place on July 24.
Lallchandra pleaded guilty and claimed that he and the virtual complainant had shared a relationship in the past.
He said, that day, going upstairs while the woman was coming down, he grabbed her wrist in an attempt to speak with her and she pulled away.
The defendant was ordered by the magistrate to take counselling and return to court for sentencing on September 27.He was also bonded to keep the peace until the determination of the case.
