July 22 causing death accused on $400,000 bail

NICHOLAS Samaroo, 21, a tour guide, of Industry, East Coast Demerara, has been charged with causing the death of Alwyn Thomas, the man killed in the July 22 Camp and Lamaha Streets, Georgetown accident. It is alleged that the defendant committed the offence by driving in a manner dangerous to the public.
The indictable charge was laid before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, and the accused was represented by attorney-at-law Mr. Euclin Gomes.
Police Corporal Simone Payne, prosecuting, did not object to bail for Samaroo and it was set at $400,000 until his next court appearance on September 12.
