Sometimes people do things that make me laugh

TAKE trade union Leader Lincoln Lewis who says that he wants investment in certain communities with his cry of Linden is too important to be destroyed. Then he goes and says that trade union activism is what Guyana needs. Mr. Lincoln Lewis, businesses require people who would do the work without complaining and those who are thankful to have a job in Guyana. They shy away from militancy which you advocate. Hence, the more militant a community is the less likely it is to receive investment as investors would see it as a sign that the community would go on strike leading to their businesses losing monies and folding up.

Then there is the concept that Indians are not willing to invest in Linden. Who can blame them when they were burnt out during the Wismar Massacre. You cannot burn out my business from your town then expect me to invest in your town.

Next, we have Lurlene Nestor who wants to boycott certain businesses. Now this is a direct attack on the private sector just like a call for boycott of the Guyana Chronicle is an attack on the media. Miss Lurlene Nestor, the private sector is needed to develop Guyana and you want to get elected by decimating them? Good luck with that one.

Then there is Freddie Kissoon, who says that he is ashamed to be an Indian Guyanese. Guess what Mr. Freddie Kissoon, Indians are also ashamed that you are Indian.

Then there is letter-writer Mr. Emile Mervin who says that the PPP/C is discriminating against Lindeners by raising the electricity tariff because they did not vote for them. It is about economics (his phrase). How would you feel if people in New York (where you live) are made to pay 10 times the electricity rate than people in Alabama? Bet you would complain to your elected representative.

My suggestion is if you want investment, show to the people with the money that you are willing to work hard, be less militant and would be reliable and supportive to their businesses. Investors can pick and choose where they want to invest in Guyana.

If you want to get elected to govern Guyana, then you need to demonstrate that you can be a national leader and not someone with a selective memory who brings up the Son Chapman explosion without bringing up the Wismar Massacre or who would bring up Roger Khan without bringing up Fineman.
