BOSAI DELIVERS! – Kiln #14 Dust Collector System in operation

BOSAI Minerals Guyana Inc delivered on its promise to have operable one of two US$7M Dust Collector Systems when the calcining unit, Kiln #14, became fully operational on Friday last at about 09:40 hrs.
A release from the company’s Community Relations Unit on Friday informed that the system on Kiln #14 was completed on June 30 last, and was put into full operation on Friday. The company noted that “this is a giant step for BOSAI, as the company fulfilled its promise to the Linden community to have dust collector systems installed on the kilns in the Bauxite Plant, to trap the dust being emitted that is of great environmental concern to the residents.”
The release reported that “as was anticipated, when the system was put into operation, there was no dust emission from the kiln, only mist.”
Preparatory work to instal both dust collector systems was started in the Bauxite Plant in January 2011, catering for Kilns #13 and #14, when the first shipment of materials arrived in Guyana in 30 containers. Actual construction of the foundation base for Kiln 14 began in March 2011.
From then, the company said, “the urgency to have the systems up was a factor, as BOSAI’s management put all its energy towards completing the system on Kiln 14, while working simultaneously on Kiln 13”. The structure on Kiln 13’s Dust Collector System, it said, was about 35 % completed.
