RAY Anthony, of Lot 20 St. John Street, New Amsterdam, Berbice, was sentenced to three years imprisonment on Tuesday, on a conviction of trafficking cocaine. He pleaded guilty to having one gramme of the narcotic for the purpose, when he appeared before Magistrate, Adela Nagamootoo at New Amsterdam Court.
Police Inspector, Jairam Ramlakhan, prosecuting, said, on June 23, Constable Braithwaithe and other ranks were on mobile patrol when the convict was seen standing along the thoroughfare acting suspiciously.
He was stopped and a search of his left side pants pocket yielded a green and white crazy glue bottle containing pieces of a whitish substance which proved to be the narcotic.
Asked by the magistrate, whether he had anything to say, Anthony replied in the negative.
