There are more Sharon Logans in the police force

A policewoman who allegedly demanded $10,000 from a man who along with another person no longer wanted to proceed with a matter was on Friday reportedly placed on $75,000 bail when she appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court. The allegation against Corporal Sharon Logan is that on June 25 at the Kitty Police Station, being a public servant, she accepted $10,000 from Rawle Timothy for herself, as gratification other than legal remuneration for not instituting the appropriate charge resulting from a report made by Timothy.

Many police officers use their power over citizens especially those road cops.
Some police officers on the road stop innocent drivers for going over the speed limit by one Km/h.
In most cases they would demand about $1,500 if not they would take you to the nearest police station and make you wait there all day without charge.
Now that traffic tickets are in place, there are those on the inside who will make these tickets disappear for a price.
In order to stamp out this corruption in the police force, the government must do sting operations to catch these rogue coppers.
Government must set up this sting operation using different ethnicities then you will get a real insight as to what is going on in Guyana.
You will see who is stopping who, who are being asked to pay, who are harassed if they refuse to pay and who go free.
It’s a very sick trend that is taking place in Guyana where only government can and must put a stop to this.
