SIX Police stations in ‘D’ Division (West Bank Demerara, West Coast Demerara and East Bank Essequibo) each received a water dispenser last Friday, compliments of Grace Kennedy Remittance Services (Guy) Ltd. The handing over was done at Leonora Police Station but the other beneficiaries were Den Amstel, Wales, La Grange, Vreed-en-Hoop and Parika.
The donor made the donations under its Western Union brand to the Divisional Commander, Senior Superintendent Errol Watts in the presence of other ranks.
The gesture was to assist the Division in providing potable water for police personnel and other persons who visit the stations on a daily basis.
Speaking at the Leonora function, with Station Sergeants and other senior ranks present, Grace Kennedy Remittance Services (GKRS) Marketing Assistant Nadine Luthers said that her company is, again, pleased to be making such a presentation which would fulfil a need expressed by the ranks.
Noting that similar donations were made to other divisions of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) in the past, she said GKRS sees the work of the police, in upkeeping law and order, as very important and is, therefore, pleased to provide the support.
Luthers used the opportunity to implore ranks to continue using the company’s services – Western Union and Bill Express – since the donations can only be made through revenues earned from loyal customers.
Thanking GKRS for the kind gesture, Commander Watts disclosed that the dispensers will not only be used by the police but moreso members of the public.
He said the gifts will go a long way in enhancing the look and feel of the public inquiries section of the respective stations.
