TRAYON Moore, 28, of Lot 111 D’Urban Street, Wortmanville, who surrendered to police when wanted Randy Morris was shot dead a few days ago, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday. He faced an indictable charge of attempted robbery under arms, particulars of which said on June 23 in Robb Street, Georgetown, being armed with a gun, he made an attempt to rob Mandaray Sookah of a bag containing $400,000.
Police Sergeant Philip Sheriff, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant was going to her car when the accused snatched at her bag but she held onto it and he then brandished a gun on her and ordered her to be quiet.
The prosecutor said Sookah complied but fell and an alarm was raised, causing Moore to run but police responded promptly and he was apprehended on Church Street, in Georgetown, too.
Attorney-at-law Mr. Peter Hugh, for the accused, in a failed bail application, said Moore was severely beaten by the police and civilians.
The lawyer acknowledged that Moore was implicated as an accomplice and was in a vehicle driven by Morris, when the latter tried to rob Sookah.

Wrong place
According to Hugh, the remanded prisoner happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time but had nothing to do with the robbery bid.
The magistrate enquired from the prosecutor, why Moore was kept in custody beyond 72 hours and how he came by the visible marks of violence.
In response, Sheriff said when the accused was arrested he had the marks, but was only indentified by the virtual complainant at an ID parade on Tuesday.
However, the magistrate told the prosecutor she is not satisfied with his explanation and he should launch an investigation.
Moore was remanded to prison and will make another Court appearance on July 5.
Last Saturday Morris and Moore led dozens of police ranks on a high speed chase through several city streets that ended in Queenstown, where Morris was killed by police gunfire, following the failed robbery outside Bourda Market.
