EDWARD Beharry and Company Ltd. and Guyana Chronicle, in collaboration with the Guyana Association for the Visually Impaired (GAVI), awarded three persons yesterday for placing first, second and third in a quiz for the visually impaired. Farida Mahatoo, Joan Massay and Boodmattie Mahabali received a laptop computer, a microwave oven and a food hamper respectively.
Representative of the Beharry Company, Hasim Ali, said participants in the competition had to fill out coupons that were in the Chronicle newspapers with information about five movies — Indian or English — that depicted the lives of blind people.
Those who participated were also required to attach three labels of any Beharry product line to the coupon and submit it to the company’s Lot 191 Charlotte Street, Lacytown, Georgetown office.
Orin Case, representing the Association at the awards presentation, expressed gratitude to the benefactors for affording the visually-impaired the opportunity of giving back to the community.
He congratulated the winners of the competition, and thanked them for their participation.
