Khan nails home 8 goals as Business School hammer St John’s 19-1

THANKS to W. Khan’s eight goals, Business School recorded the largest margin of victory in this year’s Digicel-sponsored nationwide Inter-secondary school football tournament, when they hammered St John’s College 19-1 at the Carifesta Sports Complex ground, yesterday afternoon. Khan began the goal shout for his team in the 6th minute and added seven more before regulation time was up, by finding the back of the net in the 28th, 31st, 35th, 38th, 44th, 68th and 70th minutes of the contest.
He received support from T. Saunders who scored a helmet-trick in the 11th, 30th, 46th and 63rd minute, O. Adridle’s hat-trick which was scored in the 17th, 51st and 54th minute, K. Edwards’ brace (27th, 31st), while D. Austin and J. Lopez got solitary strikes in the 46th and 24th minutes respectively.
St John’s lone goal was scored by Aroydy Brandford in the 54th minute, as his team’s defeat surpassed overtook the 18-1 drubbing Academy of Professional Studies inflicted on Covent Garden Secondary, last Monday.
At the West Demerara Secondary School ground, Uitvlugt Secondary edged La Grange Secondary 3-2 in a closely fought contest, with Kevin Dundas (39th), Jevane Eastman (50th) and Kevon Jones (54th) scoring for the victors, while Jamal Bentick got a brace in the 42nd and 48th minute for La Grange.
For the third consecutive day, no play was possible at the Georgetown Football Club ground, where South Ruimveldt Secondary and Nehemiah Secondary were set to meet, forcing the organisers to reschedule this fixture.
The action continues today with several matches across the country.
