‘SHANGO AND DA GOLDEN SCHEME’
– actors and actresses wanted, auditions being held
‘Shango & Da Golden Scheme’ has a cast of 12, is a dramatically hilarious, musically infused story of a teenaged singer – Hope Banigan – struggling to find herself and her roots while fulfilling her dream of becoming a singing sensation, going against the wishes of her father Paul Banigan, once a wealthy re-migrant from Canada, who has a vision of building a “green car” made from hemp! Hope’s destiny is affected after she storms out of her parents’ home in Georgetown and meets up with Li Min Shang, aka ‘Shango’. He is the sought-after music producer of the Golden Galaxy Empire Recording Studio. While Hope is going through her struggle, Paul Banigan and his ex-General Motors partner Obatala Moses hatch a plot to raise US$10 million from a notorious ‘Chinese banker’ – Dr. Ching, aka ‘The Godfather’ – to create their dream “green car” made from hemp, as they are convinced that the survival of the auto industry lies in the hemp plant!
Dr. Ching wants the patent and the formula for the ‘green car’ and the hemp oil, so that he could develop his own auto industry in China. Dr. Ching intends to use Hope as a bargaining chip, and ransom her for the important documents pertaining to the development and mass manufacture of the ‘green car’. Hope is kidnapped by the dreaded Dr. Ching and his sadistic bodyguard Yen-Yan, who are really escaped gangsters from Chongqing in southwestern China.
Shango helps Hope’s father with a “golden scheme” to rescue Hope, and get the much-needed reward money being offered for the death or capture of the notorious Dr. Ching! But does Hope get to fulfil her dream?
