SOME time ago your newspaper carried an article “Youths in LBI and drugs”. I do not know if the relevant authorities did anything about this problem. What I can say is that the problem has worsened. LBI is now inhabited by drug addicts, drug dealers, alcoholics, thieves and lesbians. Most of these people are from neighbouring communities. They are accommodated by some residents and bar owners. Many of these thieves survey the area in the day and around in the night. LBI Estate road and LBI embankment road have been plagued by phone snatchers who do not belong to the area.
I think it is time law-abiding citizens take LBI back. Parents should keep their children away from these drug dealers who have befriended them. They ply their trade on the embankment road and the community centre. The residents need to take note of every stranger who visits the area.
I think the media should be used to inform citizens how to protect their communities and on how criminals operate.
Countrywide, at the airport, banks and other businesses and visitors to this country need to the informed also.
