Denied bail by different magistrates on two charges

A MAN who faced two charges before different magistrates was refused bail by both. Nigel Duncan (no address given) made his first appearance before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton, charged with illegal possession of a hand grenade, a firearm and ammunition.
Particulars of that offence said, on June 6, at Broad Street, Charlestown, Georgetown, he had a .38 revolver and five matching rounds without being the holder of licences.
He pleaded not guilty and Defence Counsel George Thomas claimed police found the gun and bullets on the ground and not in Duncan’s possession.
Police Corporal Simone Payne, prosecuting, who successfully objected to bail for the defendant, said ranks made the find in a haversack he was carrying.
Later in the day, Duncan was in front of Magistrate Judy Latchman, charged with the June 6 possession of the explosive device without lawful authority.
He pleaded not guilty to that offence, too, following which pre-trial freedom was also denied him and his cases will be called, again, on June 27.
