Remigrant establishes company to provide information, other services

– to provide support which investors, businesses need in order to operate successfully
THE recently established IKS Services Unlimited is gearing for increased demand, from both local and overseas-based companies which want to do business in Guyana, following a highly successful job fair.
IKS Managing Director, remigrant, Dilorece South said the firm specialises in providing the support which businesses need in order to operate successfully.
She said the delivery offered include for mining and professional recruitment.
With respect to exploration of mines, her company provides local and foreign entities with every aspect of the assistance to set up operations, from government regulations, licensing, results of geological desk studies, accommodation and recruiting of qualified trade workers.
Ms. South said, for mining exploration, among other things, IKS can procure equipment and identify providers of services such as transportation.
Training in management, for employees and customer services, website development as well as proposal writing are also on offer and there is a recruitment bank from which workers can be recruited for a referral fee, she said.
MOTIVATED
South told the Guyana Chronicle that she had been motivated to establish the service company, largely because of problems she encountered in getting much needed information when she returned home, recently, after living abroad from childhood.
“You go to one desk and ask for some information and the people there refer you to a second desk from where you are referred to a third, you finally, find that the people who ought to be helping you were really the people at the first desk,” South said she discovered.
South said that a large percentage of the business people that IKS is targeting are those who want to come and do business in this country.
“So I thought we would provide that service to companies coming into Guyana and even the ones here who don’t know where to look,” she added.
“We want IKS Services to be the company that you refer to for anything you want. We are aiming to be the know-it-all company,” she declared.
South disclosed that the professionally skilled and trades persons job fair held at the Girl Guides Pavillion, in Brickdam, Georgetown, last May 18 was a landmark event for of IKS.
It provided an opportunity for all stakeholders, including prospective workers, to directly interact and network with each other.
Government agencies, mining and exploration companies, security firms, telecommunications and other private entities participated in the day long programme, which included information sessions on topics such as safety in the workplace, resume writing and how to prepare for a job interview.
DATABASE
Persons seeking employment were also registered in the IKS database, from which prospective employers can select potential employees.
South said many employers who have derived benefit, to date, are happy that they were able to eliminate costs incurred in the process of advertising vacancies.
Based on demands, IKS is looking to stage a similar job fair in New Amsterdam, Berbice; Linden, Upper Demerara River and Essequibo.
It will also be opening offices in Canada and the United States (U.S.) where people requiring services from the Georgetown location, at Lot 74 D’Urban and Haley Streets, Wortmanville, can also telephone number 223- 1719 or go online to the website: www.iksservices.com
