Night Shelter resident imprisoned for wounding another

A RESIDENT of the East La Penitence Night Shelter, in Georgetown, was sentenced to six months imprisonment yesterday for unlawfully wounding another.
Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton inflicted the custodial penalty on Jerome Beckles after he pleaded guilty to the offence, admitting that he unlawfully wounded Toolsiedass Persaud on May 25.
Police Corporal Simone Payne, prosecuting, said, that day, the prisoner had pushed his hands in Persaud’s pocket after claiming that the latter owed him some money.
The Prosecutor said Persaud reminded Beckles that he paid him already and walked away but the convict followed the virtual complainant, braced him to a fence and dealt him several cuffs to his face.
Persaud, who was in court, complained that Beckles told him he has to pay him until the former is dead.
