Moen McDoom appointed head of NBS Board
— Floyd McDonald still Vice-Chairman
AT A meeting of the Board of Directors of the New Building Society Limited on Wednesday,  Messrs  Moen McDoom, S.C. and Floyd Mc Donald were unanimously appointed Board Chairman and Vice-Chairman respectively. This is according to a release from the company, through which the directors, management and staff offered their congratulations to the gentlemen at reference, and wished them every success in guiding the organization forward.
McDoom succeeded Dr. N. K. Gopaul, who had earlier indicated his intention of vacating the position of Chairman of the New Building Society since his appointment as Minister of Labour.
Dr. Gopaul, however, has not relinquished his commitment to the entity that he has served so faithfully and well, but instead has chosen to serve in the capacity of a director of the board, with the greater overall responsibility now falling to Mr. McDoom, who has once before served in  that position and is therefore no novice to the arduous role he has to play in the extant dynamic thrust in the Society, in synchronisation with government’s trajectory in the housing sector, and the construction boom driven by the private sector.
In the release the directors, management and staff have indicated their recognition of Dr. Gopaul’s insightful and visionary stewardship and guidance of the Society, and expressed their sincere gratitude to him for his sterling leadership in moving the New Building Society to greater heights during his tenure as Chairman.
According to Mr. Ahmad M. Khan, CEO/Director/Secretary of the Society, Dr. Gopaul was a hands-on Chairman, who provided the committed leadership that has transformed the entity into the dynamic force that it is today, which, apart from its mandated portfolio, serves the Guyanese people in many diverse ways. He expressed the pleasure of executives and staff of NBS that Dr. Gopaul would continue serving the Society as a director on the board.
