THE Guyana Police Force is responding to an article published in the Guyana Chronicle on Wednesday May 23, 2012, on Page 15 captioned ‘Child abducted and taken out of jurisdiction by back track route – Lawyer signals intention to question police on child’s whereabouts’. The Guyana Police Force wishes to pellucidly state the following:-
* That the child Ethan Jaichand Latchman was never in police custody.
* That he departed Guyana via an official port and not by ‘back track’ as alluded to in the article.
* That the child departed with persons who were authorised to take him to his only
surviving parent (his father).
The Force noted with concern the failure by the daily to seek clarification but allowed itself to be used by an attorney to peddle misleading information pertaining to this police-related matter and further questioned the motive of the attorney to have misleading information published the day before the related Habeas Corpus case is set for hearing in the High Court.
