ROLEX Murray (no address given) was remanded to prison yesterday, on a drug trafficking charge.
He appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry and pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which alleged that, on May 18, he had 110 grammes of cannabis (marijuana) with which to traffick. Defence Counsel Patrice Henry, requesting bail for a special reason, said the narcotic was found in a stall and not on the defendant.
But Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said the defendant is a stallholder and ranks acting on information received, conducted a search that yielded a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems of the prohibited plant in a black plastic bag.
The Prosecutor objected to pre-trial freedom for Murray and he was remanded overnight, until tomorrow.
