Miner attempts suicide after love life went awry

LAST Sunday, forty-six-year-old Kenneth Melville attempted to commit suicide by shooting himself with a firearm, which once belonged to a dead relative but not handed in to the police. The miner, of Lot 30 Tuschen Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo, reportedly shot himself in the abdomen while he was in the bathroom of his sister’s house. He was home alone, and was reportedly experiencing some problems in his love life.
Relatives found the wounded man after midday in the house after his sister returned home from church on Sunday.
Up to press time, he was warded in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH), nursing gunshot wounds to the abdomen.
