Gunman arrested after threatening GWI disconnection team

A MAN was arrested yesterday morning and remained in Police custody at press time, after he is alleged to have brandished a loaded firearm at a Guyana Water Inc. (GWI) contractor, who had taken a team to disconnect his service for unpaid bills. It was reported that the contracted employee of Trevon Charles and Marshall Associates and several others, about
10:30hrs, went to Lot 39 ‘J’ Akawini Street, Section ‘K’ Campbellville, Georgetown, where the account holder is M. Singh.
They were outside the yard when the man, allegedly, whipped out the firearm and, pointing it at them, said: “People like you all will get shoot one day.”
The group was not required to enter the premises and had stayed outside when the angry man approached them from inside and made the threat.
The contractor and his employees retreated in fear for their lives and made a report at the Campbellville Police Outpost, also in the city, from where prompt action was taken to have the gunman held.
